We’re trying something new for the new decade and are going to take a shot at some predictions for 2020 in the sports world. Let’s see what we can come up with.

  1. A current sports superstar will come out. I really do think this will happen this year. Whether it be a famous basketball player around the NBA finals or an MLB player in the middle of the summer, I think it’s going to happen. As sports equality becomes more of the norm, I hope players see that they will be accepted and have a huge base of supporters from the LGBT community.

  2. The Chiefs will win the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes is going to run away with it. Sure, he was gifted with a talented team but we can’t discredit the energy he’s brought to the Chiefs team. The drought is no more! Also, I’m a Packers fan and the 49ers DEMOLISHED my team.

  3. Patrick Mahomes will be in the next ESPN Body Issue. Dude’s at a high in popularity as a person and as an athlete. Coming off of a Super Bowl win, he will be in the ESPN Body Issue. He’s a good looking, young, famous athlete who is at peak popularity. Get on that ESPN. Any other guesses on who else could make it? I’m sure some Tokyo 2020 athletes will make the cut.

  4. The Bucks will beat Lebron in the NBA Finals. Giannis is a mad man. He’s so unbelievably talented for a young player and the Bucks front office really built a team around him that can support him. They are the strongest in the East. As far as the West goes, Lebron and the Lakers company will definitely make it far. They’re full of veterans and, of course, Lebron.

  5. The Yankees will win the next World Series. Aaron Judge has to. As a newer MLB super fan, I think they’re set to win. Aaron Judge is amazing and they have a strong lineup going into the year. It’s their time. As a Twins fan, I cry.

  6. The Tokyo Olympics will result in an amazing experience as well as introduce American Pop Culture to new “Adam Rippon” and new “Gus Kenworthy.” They will remain relevant for the end of the year and then slowly go away. Maybe it’s just me but the Rippon and Gus hype went away after a year or so. Sure, Gus was in AHS but was he really? On the US team, I bet there’ll be another out athlete that takes the media by storm that we all adore during Tokyo 2020. What sport though?

  7. A woman head coach will take reign of one of the big sports in the US. Monumental. It’s going to happen. I could see it happening in the NBA the soonest.

  8. Esports will continue to rise with the popularity of streaming and a popular streamer will come out in a toxic online world. This will be huge for the gaymer community. Gaming is at a high right now and honestly, it’s because of Fortnite. Fortnite aside, it’s introduced a new audience to streaming and esports and a ton of new personalities that are taking the world by storm. Hello Ninja, hello Shroud, hello TimTheTatMan and so on. I think a famous streamer will come out this year and really help share the voice of a lot of gaymers out there.
