Many forms of cardio exercises come with many health benefits, including strengthening your heart and lung. Cardio exercises improve circulation, decreasing chest pain, numbness, swelling, etc. It also teaches breathing support when doing the exercises, which helps reduce shortness of breath. We are always doing cardio exercises; whether that is walking up and down stairs, it gives us the energy to tackle our daily activities. Here are some of the best workouts to get you up and going!


1.     Running

This may seem basic, but trust me, running is one of the best cardio exercises. It is similar to jogging except at a faster pace. It's a great way to introduce cardio exercises for beginners, and everybody does this workout! Anyone can do running for fun or health reasons. This exercise helps strengthen your muscles and lower blood pressure. Running can also be great for your mental health because it helps control stress, depression, and anxiety.

2. Swimming

Swimming is fantastic if you love water and a low-impact cardio exercise. You are building endurance and muscle strength and getting a full body workout! There are many techniques in swimming, so it's great for those who like to change their daily workout routine. If you do not know how to swim, take some swimming classes because it benefits you in the long run!

3.     Jumping Rope

I started out jumping rope for fun, but I also wanted to maintain my weight, and this was probably one of the more accessible exercises that even children enjoy. Again it's a great way to connect with kids and teach the importance of exercises. Jumping rope helps improves coordination, increases your agility, and enhances balance. Like the other exercises, it helps reduce the risk of heart diseases and stroke.

4.     Hiking

This exercise provides a lot of workouts all in one! I mean that you are getting squats, hill runs, lunges, etc., preparing you for hiking. I've never professionally gone hiking, but it is on my bucket list! Hiking helps build bone density and improve sleep quality. I mean, who does not want a good night's sleep? It also helps improve your stamina and can boost happiness.

5.     Dance

I just had to add dance to this because I believe it is one of the best cardio workouts ever! Dance has many different styles, so you can choose which types of dance you prefer to learn, and there are many tutorial videos. This exercise helps you learn breath support so you can get enough oxygen to your face because sometimes, dancers and athletes end up looking red. Dance can improve your flexibility and give you a great fun time!


There are many health benefits to doing cardio exercises, and sometimes we get too busy to put in those time for ourselves. I encourage you to find exercises to get your heart pumping and share it with your friends and family. I believe exercises are the most fun when doing them with someone else!
